Why use an 0845 number?
The use of 0845 numbers allows ARLA to manage calls in a way
that means calls can be routed to the right person or department
faster. We can automatically reroute calls to different extensions
and even mobile phones, if or when required. This flexibility means
we can offer a higher level of customer service and manageability
to our members
Why is calling an 0845 number from a mobile phone more
expensive?
We understand that there is a difference if someone calls a 0845
number from a mobile phone. Calls can cost more and may not be
included in a 'free minutes' package. The cost of a call to 0845
from a mobile phone can in some instances be 20p-30p a minute. ARLA
does not benefit financially from this; it is the mobile phone
companies who choose to charge in this way and it is a matter
beyond our control.
We would advise callers who use mobile phones to check 0845
number costs with their service provider. Although the higher costs
are beyond our control, we would welcome any reduction in call
charges related to 0845 numbers from mobile phones on behalf of
members who choose to call us using a mobile phone rather than a
landline.
Why doesn't ARLA use an 0345 number instead of
0845?
When we looked at the different options available, we found that
while using an 0345 number would allow some mobile phone users to
get either free calls or calls at the same rate as for an '01' or
'02' number (depending on their tariff), moving to use a 0345
number would financially disadvantage the majority of our customers
who use a landline and are on a BT tariff. These customers would
most likely be charged more than if calling the existing 0845
lo-call number.
What if I'm calling from abroad?
Due to the very high call costs of calling international numbers
we advise people to use email as the preferred method of contact.
We always respond promptly to all queries. You can find all our
contact details here: http://www.arla.co.uk/about-us/contact-us/
What if my company network restricts calls to 0845
numbers?
There may be a small number of companies who restrict calls to
this lo-call number. In these instances the best way to contact us
is by email. Please email info@arla.co.uk, providing your
phone number and the best time to call you. A member of staff will
then call you back and deal with your query.
