Mark Stemp

Mark leads the personal tax service in the Reading office of the national audit firm Crowe.  He provides tax advice to help clients not only overcome their tax problems, but also to help them become and remain tax efficient.  He advises on all aspects of the tax system but in particular income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax.  Many of his clients are either landlords or developers of property. His main focus at the moment is advising his clients on the best structure for their property businesses particularly in view of the tax increases on residential property. 

As well as acting for clients directly, Mark runs small workshops to assist letting agents, estate agents and legal advisors to better understand the changes in the tax rules and to help them spot planning opportunities.

Richard came to PainSmith in August 2011 as a Paralegal after graduating with a degree in law from the University of Sheffield. Whilst working for PainSmith he completed the Legal Practice Course at weekends completed a training contract at the firm and has been taken on by the firm as a fully qualified Solicitor. After receiving considerable training provided by PainSmith, Richard joined the legal helpline and has been one of the advisers on the helpline for over four years.

He has over five years of experience in Landlord and Tenant law and his normal work load ranges from case handling of possession matters, deposit disputes, drafting of tenancy agreements, advising on HMO properties and debt and disrepair claims. He is experienced in lengthy and complex litigation and settlement negotiations.

Victoria joined the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) in 2017 to lead on a National project which aims to improve the response to domestic abuse in the Private Rented Sector.  She brings her expertise from working nearly 25 years in local government, transforming services, creating partnerships and leading teams to deliver effective private rented sector services for both landlord and tenant.
