HMRC have been consulting about changes to their powers so that there is greater consistency between the information they can require lettings agents to provide about:

  • UK resident landlords and non UK resident landlords
  • Managed lets and 'introduction only' lets

ARLA's response is attached. The response focuses on the additional need for consistency between  HMRC's use of lettings agents as information providers, and HMRC's pursuit of information from landlords when they let their properties themselves without using an agent.  ARLA also calls for the burden on its members to be minimised by HMRC giving sufficient advance notice of what information they will require and in what format.
