Building Regulations - Welsh Government Consultation

Monday, August 06, 2012

The Welsh Government has published a consultation seeking views on changes to Part L of the building regulations (the conservation of fuel and power).  The consultation is now open and closes on 23 October 2012.

According to the Welsh Government, "We want to improve the energy performance of buildings in Wales through the Building Regulations. This will help Wales move towards zero carbon and near zero carbon energy buildings by 2020. Our proposals set out in this consultation are a significant step towards that objective."

This consultation contains proposals for:

  • Changes to Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Power) of the Building Regulations
  • Changes to the Approved Documents for Wales
  • A new template for the Approved Documents for Wales
  • A discussion of future thinking as we move towards zero carbon
