Paving the way for an even greater degree of professionalism in the Private Rented Sector, ARLA and the NAEA have announced plans for a joint training programme for lettings and residential management. From August 2004, the training programme for all members of both organisations will be formulated and managed jointly.
The two organisations believe that the hallmark for professional bodies and regulated practitioners is in the training and qualifications offered and gained.
Said Adrian Turner, Chief Executive of ARLA, "Without a properly constructed training programme with a full take-up of courses by members, no organisation can call itself professional. Now we have reached that moment when training more people to levels of even greater professionalism needs the combined skills, knowledge and resources that both our organisations can offer.
"Training and qualifications are what is wanted and expected by all our member firms and their staff and it is rightly demanded by the public in today's consumerist society,"
he added.
Peter Bolton King, Chief Executive of the NAEA said, "Between ARLA and the NAEA we have all the ingredients for the provision of a spectacularly successful training programme reaching the widest possible marketplace. This initiative will be welcomed by lettings firms and their staff, landlords and tenants and by consumer bodies and government.”
The new course structure will be administered by the Professional Development department of the NAEA at Warwick and the trainers drawn from the existing ARLA and NAEA pool of experienced course tutors. The structure of conducting seminar style courses with complete interaction within small groups will be continued and the courses will be available nationwide.
Ruth Lilley, NAEA Head of Membership & Professional Development commented “Our organisations have already worked together successfully to create the Residential Letting and Property Management Technical Award for which the NAEA is the Awarding Body. This new initiative is a further demonstration of commitment both from ARLA and the NAEA to the development of even higher standards in the property sector through training and qualifications. We look forward to working with ARLA and making use of their expertise.”
Added Adrian Turner, "ARLA training has previously been successful in no small part due to the significant contribution made by the property services company Letsure who have provided us with excellent admin support. We are looking forward to working with Letsure on other projects in the future."
