ARLA Conference
The seven prize winners at the ARLA Annual Conference for the highest marks in ARLA training over the past year emphasised the success of the whole ARLA training programme. This success has been driven by the staff of ARLA member firms as an ARLA qualification is seen as an important part of career development.
Since the current ARLA training programme began in 1997, there have been 4067 passes in Level 1 Competency. 721 candidates passed Level 1 with Distinction, gaining 85% or more, and 1534 passes with merit with marks in excess of 75%. The standard pass mark is set at 60%.
In Level 2, the qualification for senior managers, partners and directors introduced two years ago, there have been 244 successful candidates. These include seven passes with Distinction and 48 passes with merit.
Said Caroline Cope, past ARLA Chairman and National Council member responsible for training, “The success of our training programmes has been driven by the staff of the ARLA member firms. People looking to make a career in lettings know that the ARLA qualifications are a major asset for career development.”
Mrs Cope pointed out that professional training is the only way to achieve the Law Commission’s objective of high standards of service. It is also allows ARLA to create, develop and sustain its unique and very high level of bonding to safeguard landlord’s rents and tenant’s deposits,” she added.
“Without proper training, there is no way a letting agent can fulfill the consumer needs and requirements of the modern landlord and tenant. They expect to find professionally qualified staff when they go to a letting agent.
ARLA requires ARLA qualified staff in every member office as a condition of corporate membership. ARLA qualifications are also needed to become an Individual Member of the Association.
