ARLA response to Welsh Government Consultation PRS and Regulation of Private Rented Housing

Wednesday 06 May 2015

ARLA has been working with the Welsh Government to ensure a thorough understanding of the issues raised by current consultations.

The ARLA response to each of two Welsh Government consultations is concisely summarised below with links to submission documents.

Information, periods and fees required for an application for registration and an application for a license under Part 1 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 – Regulation of Private Rented Housing

ARLA was part of the Welsh Government working party and had sight of the draft version of the Code of Practice. Our earlier input has been taken into account however we are requesting amends on two further points including the impracticality of getting urgent repairs remedied within “three working days of a landlord or agent being notified”. The ARLA response is detailed here.

Private Rented Sector Code of Practice for Landlords and Agents

The response to this consultation highlights the practical impact on day to day lettings agency business along with crucial issues of enforcement and whether all agents will be operating on a level playing field. The ARLA response to this consultation is detailed here.

The former consultation closed on 7 May but submissions to Private Rented Sector consultation will be accepted up until 22 May 2015.
