Basic Legal Practice for Block Managers: Advanced (Certificate Course)

For beginners who have completed the Introductory Course and for experienced Block Managers to ensure they are aware of all the requirements of the Common-hold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002.

The advanced day take participants through the main procedures to manage a block in accordance with statute. For all those who have completed the introduction and for experienced professionals to up-date their knowledge of the Common-hold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002. This course is designed as an essential tool to ensure compliance in the day to day administration of a Block Management Business.

Topics:

  • Collection of Service Charges: Responsibility of Block Manager and Freeholder
  • Forfeiture and Section 146 Proceedings
  • Building Maintenance: Serving Consultation Notices on Leaseholders
  • Long Term Agreements: Consultation Requirements
  • Definition of Repairs and Improvements under the Lease
  • Freeholders Consents under the three main statutory regimes
  • Health and Safety: legal requirements for Block Managers

Practical examples will be referred to throughout the day and the participants are encouraged to bring any relevant material from their own practices.
