Drafting Tenancy Agreements and Terms of Business

This one day course is designed to increase a letting agent’s knowledge of the definitions contained in the Tenancy Agreement and Terms of Business, including the effect of new legislation and case law. It will provide attendees with an understanding of the need-to-know topics, such as how to amend tenancy agreements, surrender a tenancy and avoid loopholes in drafting agreements. The session encourages letting agents to participate in practical exercises, such as drafting clauses. It is recommended that delegates already have some knowledge of the Housing Act 1988 and a general knowledge of contract law before undertaking this course.

Marveen Smith

Marveen Smith is the Principal of Pain Smith Solicitors, a niche firm who are specialists in Landlord and Tenant law. As well as having a background in accountancy and tax and working in legal practice daily, Marveen makes regular appearances on 'Money Box' for Radio 4 and 'Watchdog' where she endeavours to balance the biased view of letting agents that can be presented by the media; This allows Marveen to disseminate information, and thus enable landlords to act in a more professional capacity.

Marveen is also well known amongst members of ARLA and the NAEA as she makes frequent presentations at regional meetings and landlord seminars.
