Nicholas joined the Woodworm and Dry Rot Division of Rentokil’s research laboratories in 1980 as a laboratory technician.  For the next 28 years he worked on insect, fungi, damp and timber treatment research both on the vectors and on formulation of product.  

From 2008, Nicholas has been actively involved with the PCA Technical committees of the Structural Waterproofing, Preservation and Residential Ventilation groups.

Richard came to PainSmith in August 2011 as a Paralegal after graduating with a degree in law from the University of Sheffield. Whilst working for PainSmith he completed the Legal Practice Course at weekends completed a training contract at the firm and has been taken on by the firm as a fully qualified Solicitor. After receiving considerable training provided by PainSmith, Richard joined the legal helpline and has been one of the advisers on the helpline for over four years.

He has over five years of experience in Landlord and Tenant law and his normal work load ranges from case handling of possession matters, deposit disputes, drafting of tenancy agreements, advising on HMO properties and debt and disrepair claims. He is experienced in lengthy and complex litigation and settlement negotiations.

Philip Keddie FNAEA, CRLM, FARLA (Hon), MAPIP

Philip has been working in the south west property market for almost 40 years, having started in sales before transferring to lettings 25 years ago. He has been an active member of both NAEA and ARLA Propertymark over that time; and has been a Board member for the last 5 years. He is passionate about the industry and wants to engage with members and share that passion and pride for what we do.


Emma Beynon

Emma qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2000 in the International Corporate Tax department of Deloitte in London assisting some of the largest multinational companies through to smaller start-up international businesses.  Emma also qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2014 and enjoys working across the full range of taxes with businesses and individuals to manage and improve their tax position through flexible tax planning, taking into account each client’s unique personal or commercial situation.

Emma is an experienced presenter and trainer having provided internal tax training for staff in the firm including property taxation matters and recent legislative changes.  Emma has also presented across Sussex at local NLA branch meetings on a range of property related tax matters.
