May 2019

As the countdown to the fee ban continues, my regions are all seeing Landlords begin to realise that they are yet again going to see a squeeze on their profitability, and even more so as agents demonstrate what they are looking to do to survive the fee ban and remain profitable themselves.

Whilst survival of your business is key, we must be aware that just putting fees up is not going to be the conclusive answer, and Landlords need to see the value in any increased fees that are made to your business.

Landlords are themselves running an enterprise and they simply will not accept an increase without some added value to the service they receive. All letting businesses need to adapt, innovate and, most of all, remain profitable at what is proving to be an extremely challenging time within the rental sector.

I am a big believer in technology assisting our industry to evolve and it was even more apparent at this year’s ARLA Propertymark Conference and Exhibition, where I spent most of my spare time looking at tech products that will save valuable time and money responding to business needs, enhancing service to the landlord and maintaining it with our tenants.

Make sure your business has the answer to this to survive.
