COVID-19 not dampened enthusiasm to get OnTheMarket

A property market online portal has seen the number of agent branches listing exclusively rise by 1,619, which is a year-on-year rise of 42 per cent.

Following the release of pent-up consumer demand as the market reopened, buoyed further by the Chancellor's stamp duty holiday, agents are seeing strong levels of activity. The COVID-19 crisis has been a catalyst for many agents to review their portal choices and examine the value delivered.

Reported at OnTheMarket’s AGM, which was held at the end of July, they believe there is significant potential for market share gains and will be looking to capitalise on the opportunity through their portal offering, the approach of agent alignment and commitment to sustainably low listing fees.

Increase in customer interest

At the end of June 2020, it was reported their portal had almost 14,000 advertisers and generated more than 1.8 million leads (around 134 per advertiser). Further reports show that the COVID-19 crisis does not seem to have hit their business too hard with a 6.3 per cent increase in leads generated since January and a 40 per cent increase on the financial year average.

Safe viewings during the pandemic

With the housing market now fully open and some further local lockdowns imposed in Leicester, the North of England, and Aberdeen, it is imperative agents and consumers adhere to the safety guidelines for property viewings. Propertymark’s guidance is available which informs agents and vendors on how to conduct safe house viewings and encourages them to work together to create the safest possible environment for everyone.
