New regulations are being laid before Parliament that will ensure no eviction orders can be enforced within level three or level four restriction areas until at least 31 March.
The Scottish Government has confirmed the regulations will take effect from 22 January 2021 and will be reviewed every 21 days.
There are exemptions to the regulations in relation to the most serious circumstances such as illegal occupation, antisocial behaviour, and criminal behaviour including domestic abuse.
The need to introduce the measures are due to the continued rise in cases caused by the new variant of the COVID virus and this action will help to ensure everyone, including renters, are protected from the health, social and economic harms of the virus by being able to remain in their homes during this time.
