Reviewal date set for housing market in Wales to fully open

First Minister, Mark Drakeford has today, 10 July 2020 announced in his statement reviewing the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (Wales) Regulations that the Welsh Government will consider reopening the housing market, to allow viewings in occupied properties, from 27 July 2020.

In the statement, Mr Drakeford said that the Welsh Government will continue with its phased reviewal process every 21 days and each week will review and consider reopening various sectors, with the housing market confirmed to be on the agenda. In the week commencing 27 July 2020, the Welsh Government will look again at the latest health advice and evidence and consider fully reopening the housing market to allow viewings in occupied properties.

Land Transaction Tax

When answering questions from journalists, the First Minister went on to say that he is meeting Rebecca Evans, the Finance Minister this afternoon to discuss Land Transaction Tax (LTT) following the Chancellor's announcement to cut Stamp Duty Land Tax in England earlier in the week. In his response, he added that the Welsh Government is considering what the best action is for the housing market and the wider economy in Wales and will release further information in the coming days.
