Northern Ireland housing market to reopen

The Executive Ministers announced today in their daily update on the COVID-19 emergency that lettings and sales activity can resume under strict guidelines from Monday 15 June.

First Minister, Arlene Foster, confirmed the property industry has the highest multiplier effect in the economy and the opening of the housing market will incorporate the full end to end process from viewings to securing a mortgage and the house move.

Propertymark has worked with the Executive throughout recent months in order to set the foundations for the reopening of the housing market. We have supported the Executive in understanding the importance of the housing market and implementing workable guidance, designed to protect the safety of the public and the professionals.

The First Minister reiterated that the country remains vigilant to the threat of a second wave and for this reason, it is vital that business operates safely.
