The final proposal for the Proposed Fair Rents (Scotland) Bill was lodged on the 14 November 2019. By introducing measures to limit rent increases and to improve the availability of information about rent levels, the proposed bill is intended to protect tenants in the private rented sector.

Progression of the Bill follows analysis of responses to the recent consultation and despite a significant degree of opposition to the bill with the majority of respondents being strongly opposed to the suggestions it has been considered by Pauline McNeill MSP to continue with bill.
