The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is offering £3.8 million funding which local authorities can apply for by outlining their project proposals.
The Government wants the funding to further encourage new or targeted short-term initiatives in the Private Rented Sector (PRS), enabling most landlords, who are good, to continue to provide safe and decent homes for their tenants.
This is the second year the Government has offered this funding. Last year over £2 million was shared amongst 56 projects reaching 100 councils and combined are home to over a million households living in the PRS.
The Government’s aim for the funding
The Government hopes to raise the standard of properties in the PRS by supporting projects that will help local authorities to carry out their duties and use their existing budgets more effectively and to develop or enhance existing PRS enforcement activities.
