Property Photography – Creating the Best First Impression of Your Homes and Your Brand

Talk to estate agents about ‘marketing’ and many will think first about their corporate promotions. But, if making properties stand out in the Internet beauty parades is a priority, then great photos will not only attract more interest in the homes being sold, they’ll also help attract more of the ‘better’ local houses to sell.

Photography can be outsourced but the top professionals aren’t cheap and are probably best utilised for your biggest homes. So, having the necessary skills in-house will give you a competitive advantage because all of your homes will be able to be photographed beautifully, at very low cost. This workshop will show you the techniques used to take the photos here: hello-photo.co.uk

Audience

Anyone who needs to photograph your properties. There are elements of this workshop that would benefit from management buy-in. If only junior staff attend, I will subsequently contact their managers to suggest how they might support them in achieving awesome results.

Topics

  • Why and how awesome photos will improve your business
  • Preparing your vendor – saving time and money
  • Making sure you take your photos in the best light
  • Recommended settings for correct exposure, colour, sharpness etc.
  • Making the property’s vertical lines, vertical
  • Capturing window views in beautifully exposed room shots
  • Lens selection – when to use your wide-angle and when to use your zoom
  • Composition
  • Tips and Tricks and much more

Equipment Needed for this Workshop

  • An SLR camera, preferably from the Canon range. Some SLR cameras from other manufacturers may not suitable for this workshop (see message from trainer).
  • A wide-angle zoom lens (10-20) or similar
  • A zoom lens (18-55) or similar
  • A sturdy tripod

Message from our trainer

Nikon Cameras in the D3000 to D3400 range lack a function called Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) that is used within this course. Nikon cameras in the D5000 range, or with any higher number, do have that functionality. If you have a Nikon D3xxx, you would still benefit hugely from the course, but without AEB the photos will not be as fine as they would be with it. However, if you do have a camera in that range, I will explain a workaround.

Other camera's by different manufacturers might not have the AEB functionality, but it would be best to check with me to make sure - email johndurrant@doctor-photo.co.uk and send me the make and model and I will get back to you. Also menu systems vary radically between makes and models, so it is a good idea to bring the instruction manual with you.
