Understanding HMOs and the current Licensing system

This course will provide letting agents and property managers an understanding of the definition of an HMO in terms of both the Planning the Housing Act 2004 along with all the different Licensing models. This will include the new Mandatory Licensing reforms that came into force on the 1 October 2018.

Delegates will also understand how to try and avoid the new penalty fines that are now in place where letting Agents can be liable up to a potential of £30,000.

The course has a practical application giving an insight into the potential of this developing sector.

Aidan Reed, ARLA Trainer

Aidan Reed

Aidan has been involved in the property sector for over 35 years. A Chartered Surveyor who built his own multi disciplinary Residential practice including both sales, professional and student lettings and management before selling it to Loc8me in 2017.

Aidan was a Partner with John German for over 20 years and set his own sales business up in Leicestershire in 2005 becoming the market leader in Loughborough before selling out to Leaders in 2015.

He now brings his expertise and experience to other firms through his consultancy work and has been Chair of the Working group for The Junior Estate Agent Apprenticeship.

Aidan has been a member of NAEA Propertymark since 1989, serving on the Propertymark Board for 5 years and was elected to The College of Fellows in 2017.
