Client accounting for residential lettings (virtual training)

Get to grips with client money and ensure your compliance with the accounting procedures of professional bodies like ARLA Propertymark. The course will provide you with practical guidance on non-resident landlords and the Finance Act 1995. It will also explain the basics of client accounting and areas of potential risk.

Part one:

  • Understanding the tax liabilities for landlords and the implication for letting agents
  • What legislation impacts on landlords and agents
  • Timings for providing information and paying tax

Part two:

  • Understanding the Non-Resident Landlords Scheme
  • HMRC audits
  • Tax returns required to be dealt with by the letting agent

Part three:

  • Understanding Propertymark's client accounting rule and achieving compliance

This course comprises of three 90-minute sessions with breaks in between each session.

Meet the trainer

Ian Potter

Ian Potter

Ian worked in letting agencies for almost 20 years before he joined ARLA Propertymark. During his time here he met with many government departments and politicians concerning the PRS in all legal jurisdictions, including the introduction of Tenancy Deposit Protection.

Having retired in 2014, Ian currently works as a consultant for several companies related to the PRS including Propertymark Qualifications, TDS and Safe Deposits where he was recently appointed the chairman of the Board of Directors. Ian has wide knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding client accounting having experiencing many different software systems and processes.
