Understanding the principles of effective negotiation throughout the sales process is a key skill. Whilst negotiation is often assumed to only relate to the offer, it actually infiltrates the entire process and is a life skill. In estate agency it includes negotiating; commission terms, the initial asking price, any price reduction, offers and if necessary, re-negotiating after adverse surveys/valuations, all to achieve the best outcome.

Meet the trainer
Ian is a chartered surveyor, with a passion for all aspects of residential property. He is keen to share the knowledge he has gained from training as a Quantity Surveyor and becoming a General Practice Surveyor and Registered Valuer. He has been involved in managing a multi-practice firm of Surveyors with offices across Scotland and managing the Conveyancing and Estate Agency teams in Edinburgh and Glasgow for one of Scotland’s top firms of solicitors. After setting up his own consultancy firm, he was asked to join a well-known Letting firm to be Operations Director and head up their Estate Agency department.
